As if January wasn’t hard enough, with the short days, dark nights and plummeting temperatures, adding feeling grotty into the mix can make everything feel even worse.
Being unwell also takes a lot of energy from the body, to fuel the immune system. Apart from the effects of the illness itself, you may find other conditions you struggle with get worse. It may take time for you to get your energy back to starting point.
Longer-term, poor immune function can contribute towards us developing conditions such as cancer (our immune system should target and destroy cancer cells before they have a change to develop).
Prevention is ALWAYS better than cure. And there is lots that YOU CAN DO, to help to support your immune system, making illnesses less likely and less severe, if and when they do occur.
